COVID 19- UPDATE
Dear Valued Patients.
First of all, we hope all of you are doing as well as possible under these uncertain and unprecedented times. During this rapdily changing period, we have tried very hard to balance our responsibility as frontline doctors of optometry and provide essential care to our patients all the while trying to adhere to recommendations by the CDC, WHO, and state and local authorities. In light of the recent statewide "stay at home" order issued by Governor Newsom in an effort to slow COVID-19, we have decided to temporarily close the practice to all non-urgent and/or non-emergent care. This closure will take effect Friday March 20 until Tuesday March 31. According to the American Optometric Association (AOA) and the California Optometric Association (COA), urgent care is defined as medical care provided for illnesses or injuries which require prompt attention but are typically not of such seriousness as to require the services of an emergency room. Emergent care is defined as medical care for conditions requiring prompt medical attention due to a sudden change in vision or visual health. If you feel that you have either an urgent or emergent eye problem, please reach out to us at either 714.478.2872 or 714.381.7706 or go to your nearest emergency room. We will use our professional judgement to determine whether you need to be examined in the practice or be referred out. In either case, we will make sure you are taken care of.
Although you may not have an urgent or emergent eye problem, there are eye conditions that still require careful monitoring, like glaucoma, macula diseases, and visually significant cataracts. For those of you who have these diagnosis and are not noticing any noticeable changes with your vision, we recommend that you keep your future scheduled appointments. If you are noticing a sudden change in vision, then please let us know immediately. If you are unsure if what you are experiencing requires immediate attention, please don't hesitate to contact us by phone, text, or email.
For those of you who require corrective lenses (spectacles or contacts) to visually function, we know that's very important as well. If you already have a pair of glasses and just waiting for your new pair, please be patient with us as we will not be dispensing any eyewear between March 20 and March 31. If you truly feel that not having your new pair of eyeglasses is an urgent or emergent situation, please contact us via email at [email protected]. We will look into your specific situation and get back to you asap. If you ordered contact lenses and have been told that they have arrived, we could possibly arrange a specific day and time for you to pick them up. If you need to order contacts, please reach out to us and we'll get them directly shipped out to you as soon as possible. If you need an emergency pair of contacts, just let us know and we'll figure out a way for you to get it.
For those of you who are using prescription eye medication(s) and need a refill, please email us at [email protected]. We ask that you include the name of the medication that you are using, pharmacy that you are using and its telephone number. Remember, for those of you who are being treated for glaucoma, it's of the utmost importance that you do not stop using your medication.
For those of you who just need to make an appointment for your annual routine or diabetic eye examination AFTER MARCH 31, you can do so by going online at www.eyewellnessoptometry.com. If you are not comfortable with making an online appointment, please call us at 714.968.9121. We will still be checking phone messages and a staff member will call you back to schedule that appointment.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this temporary closure may cause you. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we all try to navigate through these changing and uncertain times. As always, we are so thankful for all of you. As a small family-oriented business, we could not do what we love to do all these years without your loyal support!
We will continue to monitor this situation closely and continue to follow local and state guidelines and recommendations. We will update you with more information regarding our practice situation in the coming days. In the meantime, please stay at home whenever possible, be safe, stay healthy and be POSITIVE! We will somehow get through this together.
